Great for groupsFor adventurersFor families

The rain is drumming against the windows outside – and yet the adventure of your holiday still lies ahead of you. In the Gaming Room right on Schladming's main square, you put on the VR headset and suddenly find yourself in a frozen castle, in the depths of Atlantis or in the jungle of a sunken temple. Together with your team, you solve puzzles, open hidden doors and completely forget for an hour that you're actually in Styria. On top of that, there's a PS5, Nintendo Switch and a dedicated gaming lounge – the perfect indoor plan for families, groups of friends and anyone who wants to turn rainy days into experiences.

What awaits you

The Gaming Room offers more than a dozen VR escape adventures – from Frozen Castle to Atlantis and Jungle Quest through to the horror classic House of Fear, plus VR shooters like Dreamhackers. Depending on the game, 1–8 players dive in together, and one round lasts around 45–60 minutes. No previous experience is needed, and glasses wearers can join in without any problems – the VR headsets fit over normal glasses. If you prefer classic gaming: two game stations with PS5 and Nintendo Switch (each for up to 4 players) and an exclusive gaming lounge for up to 8 people are ready and waiting – also bookable for team events, birthdays and stag and hen parties.

Prices & opening hours

A VR escape game costs € 29–35 per player, depending on group size – the more people join in, the cheaper it gets per person (as of July 2026). It's open daily from 14:00 to 22:00, with Tuesday as the closing day. Important: bookings are made exclusively online via gaming-room.at – telephone reservations are not possible. You can pay by credit card, PayPal or on site in cash or by card. Vouchers are also available if you'd like to give an experience as a gift.

Getting there from Schladming

It could hardly be easier: the Gaming Room is located right at Hauptplatz 40, in the heart of Schladming's centre. From the hotel, it's around a 10-minute walk – no car and no hunting for a parking space. The visit combines perfectly with a stroll through town or dinner in one of the restaurants around the main square. If you do come by car, you'll find parking in the centre of Schladming.

Insider tips

Be sure to book your VR slot online in advance – especially on bad-weather days and in peak season, the slots fill up quickly. The recommended minimum age for VR is 12; younger children may play accompanied by their parents if they already have gaming experience. For groups, it pays to bring the full team: the game gets cheaper per person, and puzzling together is more fun anyway. If no follow-up slot is booked after your game, the playing time can often even be extended. For corporate and team events with catering, it's best to enquire by email.
