3‑Lakes Tour: Styrian Bodensee – Hüttensee – Obersee
approx. 4:00 h | 4.3 km | ↑↓ ~590 m gain/loss · moderate · 1–10 persons · Free10,7 km
The 3‑Lakes Tour links three photogenic alpine lakes: the Styrian Bodensee, Hüttensee with the panoramic Hans‑Wödl Hut, and the quiet Obersee at the head of Seewigtal. From the trailhead near Seewigtalstüberl, a gentle lakeside path leads to Bodensee. Beyond the valley head, the trail steepens markedly: expect steps, roots and rocky sections beside streams and cascades. High above, crystal‑clear lakes, rugged rock walls and big views await. Return the same way.
Route & Difficulty
From the car park, it’s 15–20 minutes to Bodensee. Follow trail no. 782 into the valley; at the end the steep ascent to Hans‑Wödl Hut (1,533 m) begins. A short, steeper push continues to Obersee. Out‑and‑back return. Rated “moderate”: sure‑footedness, sturdy footwear and basic fitness required. Mountain‑savvy kids manage well; not suitable for strollers.
Views & Nature
You’ll move from cool forests to open cirques with brooks, cascades and rock steps. Bodensee offers mirror‑like reflections; higher up, Hüttensee and Obersee shine in turquoise hues. On clear days, Hochwildstelle and neighbors frame the skyline. Stay on marked trails and respect protected zones—alpine flora and wildlife need your care.
Safety & Gear
The climb between the valley head and Hans‑Wödl Hut is steep and partly exposed. Wear grippy, ankle‑high boots; bring poles, sun/rain protection and enough water. After rain the path can be slippery; in early season lingering snow may pose hazards—turn back if conditions worsen.
Food & Services
